The P99 Series is the only hammerless pistol available to offer three trigger options: The line includes both full size and compact models for both uniform and undercover use. The P99 series offers the law enforcement professional a number of special features and various trigger mechanisms to meet the agencies needs. The weapon is used throughout the film and appears in many of the posters and marketing material released in support of the movie. In Tomorrow Never Dies, Bond selects the P99 from Wai Lin's armory while in Saigon. However, both on screen and in the marketing stills, Bond is obviously sporting the full-size P99.
Arguably, the more appropriate choice for Bond would be the P99 Compact, since small size and concealability are the reasons why Ian Fleming chose the PPK as the preferred weapon. He will keep this gun in The World Is Not Enough, Die Another Day and Casino Royale. In the 1997 film Tomorrow Never Dies Bond switches from his trusted Walther PPK to the new Walther P99.
